The Art of Ceramic
Creating ceramic pieces involves a detailed and meticulous firing process, each step is crucial for achieving the final product’s aesthetic and durability. All our products are handcrafted by skilled artisans, who have dedicated their entire lives to mastering the art of ceramics. Each step in the firing process not only fulfills a technical requirement but also showcases the artisanal skills that have been honed over generations. The passion and expertise of our artisans infuse each piece with a unique soul, transforming it from a mere object into a heritage of craftsmanship.
Bisque Firing
The first firing occurs at approximately 950°C. This initial firing transforms the raw ceramic material into a solid but porous state known as “bisque.” This stage is essential as it prepares the ceramic surface to effectively absorb paints and glazes.
Glost Firing
The second firing conducted at around 900°C, follows once the bisque ware is ready. During this stage, the bisque can either be immersed in a liquid glaze to achieve a glossy finish or spray painted to attain a textured effect, which is characteristic of most of our products. This firing melts the glaze or sets the paint, bonding it to the bisque surface and enhancing durability. It also seals the pores of the bisque, making the piece stronger and water-resistant.
Lustre Firing
The third firing is set at about 700°C and is reserved for pieces that have decorative elements like real gold paint applied after the glost firing. The lower temperature is ideal for setting the gold paint onto the already finished ceramic, adding luxurious and shiny embellishments without melting the underlying glaze or paint.
